12/20/2023 0 Comments Mage tower location wowThe Early Shift poked at Gnarlroot, with a 13 second wipe followed by a 2 minute pull that ended at 77% on the first boss of Amirdrassil. Well, that's no coincidence, as there were literally two pulls in Mythic at all the entire day. You'll notice I haven't talked about Mythic at all yet. Instant Dollars got the first Heroic kill on the penultimate boss, Tindral Sageswift, so let's take a look at that: Liquid did not get out of Normal until only recently, and we saw a few guilds head to 8/9 Heroic, with 0 Fyrakk kills. Liquid weren't far behind either, as they were doing some real splits already, as they got to keep the gear they get, unlike Echo who were going back to their EU characters when the reset came. Later on we found out that they did in fact plan to experiment with the boss a little more, but somehow got locked out and decided to just leave and try to get some extra sleep. We started with the NA Echo guild, Project Albatross, as they headed in and just cleared Normal all the way through, grabbing the very first Fyrakk kill and then going to bed. What was once an exciting time with guilds heading in to face the hardest bosses is now, by default, a string of 2-4 days of Normal and Heroic splits, with even the Heroic endboss not seeing any action for at least a day. The advent of same-day Mythic may have been good for the game, but it sure wasn't for the Race to World First. They don't want Augmentation to feel obligatory in 5 man groups so they will be tuning it further (which has already happened recently once again, with yesterday's tuning pass).ĭon't forget to head on over and check out the full interview, with a lot more detail on each subject and quite a few more questions as well!ĭay 1 of the RWF aka NA day is behind us! It was a strange one, as the only endboss World First was taken by a EU guild, but other than that it was pretty standard - which means SPLITS! No new cosmetics planned for Mythic+, but something they could look at in the future are things like Vicious Mounts, that are rewards for just playing as lot, as opposed to reaching a certain high rating. Throne of the Tides is basically a brand new dungeon considering how much it was changed. The focus of M+ going forward is more on the dungeons and less on the affixes, as the affixes should just be these relatively minor changes that happen from week to week to make things fresh. There are no new leaver penalties planned for Mythic+. It was just an experiment that they then decided to make into a core part of the game. Mythic+ wasn't originally designed as an evergreen system that would persist after Legion. Reviving/remaking old content is definitely something that will go on, and they also mentioned the possibility of additional difficulties for Timewalking raids "making them feel more modern and relevant", although at some point in the future. They have increased the use of Private Auras in Amirdrassil to clamp down a little on excessive WeakAura usage. Raid design isn't intended to absolutely always require WeakAuras and addons, but encounters are designed with them in mind. They hope to one day be able to do a full raid without any PTR testing so it's all new and exciting, but it's more of a "dream", as player feedback is a huge part of what the raid tuning is based on. They've also gotten better at tuning the raids, which was a major issue during the Vault of the Incarnates RWF. All players don't have to think about the details of a staggered release and item level/M+ limitations, which is a big positive. The simultaneous raid difficulty release when a season starts was in part motivated by Mythic+ limits that had to be in place when only Heroic was available the first week, so they're happy with how it's worked out. Here's our summary of the most interesting points, but you should definitely head on over to Raider.IO and read the full thing anyway! Here's another great BlizzCon interview, and just in time for the Race to World First! Raider.IO's Aesyric interviewed Associate Game Director Morgan Day and Game Producer George Velev on many topics including the origins of Mythic+, the simultaneous raid difficulty release timing, the RWF, Timewalking raids, Augmentation, the development pipeline and much more.
